Not far from Pondicherry lies the small community of Mahablipuram. It is famous for its shore temple which was founded in the 7th century. It's been standing there for ages and ages, with the roaring sea right next to it. The tsunami in 2004 hit the village pretty bad; people died and houses had to be rebuilt. But the temple still stands there. In all its beauty and strangeness.
And the sea will keep roaring.
